Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA)
A major SETA function is Quality Assurance of training in its sector. Accordingly, FoodBev SETA has been accredited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) as an Education and Training Quality Assurance body (ETQA).
FoodBev SETA is currently accredited for a total of 35 qualifications as drafted by the Standards Generating Body (SGB). These SAQA registered qualifications comprise unit standards against which employees can be trained and subsequently assessed to establish competence.
Standards Generating Body (SGB)
The SGB working methodology approach established by SAQA and associated parties requires active participation of all members of an SGB writing and critiquing unit standards and qualifications according to the “Criteria and Guidelines for the Generation and evaluation of qualifications and standards within the NQF”.
The SGB generate and/or source unit standard based qualifications in the sub-field Manufacturing and Assembly in support of generic learning pathways identified in the industry NQF levels 1 to 10.
Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO)
Five of FoodBev SETA's SGB members are currently undergoing the process of becoming QCTO Qualified Facilitators. Upon completion they will be able to implement the new progression framework by writing ideal occupational profiles and the curriculums for the identified occupationally-focused qualifications.
