DISCRETIONARY GRANT DEFINITION Discretionary grant funds, into which 20% of FoodBev’s levies go, together with unclaimed mandatory grants from the previous year, are available to fund initiatives aligned with developing scarce skills for the sector and the country. The types of projects are generally guided by the sector’s skills priorities and should be aligned with the SETA’s strategic objectives. Ultimately, it should support the objectives of the NSDS and the national socio-economic imperatives. DEFINITION One of the most common human resources and equity challenges refers to that of the successful recruitment of people with disabilities (PWD's) in the workplace. FoodBev SETA has recognised this gap and is embarking on a pilot strategy to assist in the integration of people with disabilities into the workforce. FoodBev Seta's pilot will be conducted over a 12 month period, and we need YOU to make it happen! The following interventions will be used: - Internships (food technology & engineering (mechanical & electrical)
- Learnerships (sales & marketing & packaging)
- Apprenticeships (fitter & turner & electrician)
The best part about participating in this pilot is that taking on an intern, learner or apprentice will still count as part of any grant / turnkey solution mentioned above! If you are planning on supporting our apprenticeship project, why not elevate your corporate social responsibility and equity figures by taking an apprentice with a disability? Contact us should you be interested in participating in any disability project.
