Assessors DEFINITION An assessor may be a trainer, lecturer or facilitator who has assesses learners in a learning situation. Assessors may also be workplace supervisors, managers or team leaders, provided that they have technical expertise in the field that they want to assess. An assessor is responsible for measuring whether a learner has achieved the outcomes required by the unit standard, skills programme, learning programme or qualification for which he or she is seeking credit. Assessors operating in the Food and Beverage manufacturing sector must be registered with FoodBev SETA. Assessors who wish to be registered with the FoodBev SETA must have been declared competent against the generic assessor standard, and should be certified by a training provider accredited by the ETDP SETA to provide such training, assessment and certification
Moderators DEFINITION Moderation is the quality assurance of assessments. Moderators ensure that assessments are done in a fair, valid, reliable and practical way, and that all assessors in a learning field are making similar assessment judgements of learner performance. Moderators, too, must be registered with FoodBev SETA. Moderators who wish to be registered with the FoodBev SETA must have been declared competent against the generic standard, and should be certified by a training provider accredited by the ETDP SETA to provide such training, assessment and certification
