DEFINITION

RECOGNISE,  CONFIRM,  FORMALISE  EXISTING COMPETENCIES TOWARDS ENHANCING CAREER PROGRESS - become a Qualified Artisan

The FoodBev SETA has made grants available to companies/organisations within the Food and Beverages Manufacturing Sector for currently employed persons, under Section 28 of the Manpower Training Act.

GRANT VALUE AND PAYMENT OF TRANCHES

An Apprenticeship Grant of R15 000,00 (Fifteen Thousand Rand) per learner will be payable in two equal tranches of R7 500,00.

The first tranche payment will be made on receipt and approval of a Section 28 Apprenticeship Agreement.

The subsequent payment will be based on submission of proof of enrolment with an accredited Trade Test Centre for completion of the relevant Trade Test.

If a Section 28 Apprentice does not enroll with an accredited Trade Test Centre within 6 (six) months of registration, the full amount paid to the company/organisation will be due to FoodBev SETA immediately.

Exemption to the N2 requirement will be given to applicants in possession of:

  • Proof of minimum of six years of appropriate on-the-job experience;

OR

  • Proof of minimum of five years of on-the-job experience with one of the following:
  • Relevant technical standard 9 trade theory subject; 

OR

  • Relevant learnership programme certification;

OR

  • NQF level 2 or 3 unit standards relevant to the N2 trade theory subject;

OR

  • A letter from the training provider detailing the topics covered, benchmarked against the relevant N2 relevant trade theory syllabus. Employers/training providers, who wish to apply for exemption, should ensure that the candidates write knowledge tests during the theoretical training based on the modules. Details in the letter from the provider are subject to review by the sub-review committee before exemption may be granted. Relevancy of the modules used and the knowledge tests are subject to moderation by the quality assurors where a need may arise;

OR

  • Higher technical qualifications that cover the component of the relevant N2 or N3 theory subject.
