How does a qualification get developed?
An occupation exists on the OFO document/Industry competency frameworks → Industry confirms to the SETA that they need the qualification against an occupation → SETA submits application to QCTO →SETA board approval→ development by community of experts → public consultation → QCTO approval →SAQA approval
What are EISA exams?
It is the final assessment for occupational qualifications and part qualifications designed to determine learners’ competence against the Exit Level Outcomes (ELOs) of a qualification.
Who must deliver occupational qualifications?
Accredited Skills Development Providers (SDPs) approved by the QCTO.
How do I know if a qualification is de-registered?

What is a QP?

Does FoodBev SETA support SMMEs?
Yes. Support includes discretionary grants, skills programmes, mentorship, and targeted development initiatives.
What is the difference between a skills programme and a learnership?
Skills programmes are shorter and unit-standard based, while learnerships lead to full occupational qualifications.
Grants & Funding
What grants does FoodBev SETA offer?
Mandatory Grants (levy-paying companies) and Discretionary Grants (learnerships, internships, bursaries, skills programmes, special projects).
What is a Mandatory Grant?
Funding allocated to levy-paying employers who submit a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR).
How do I apply for Discretionary Grants?
Apply online through the DG system during an open application window.
What challenges do stakeholders face when applying?
